Welcome to our Room 10 Family!
My name is Mrs. Heather Trammell, and I am honored to be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year.  I have been involved in both private and public education for over twenty-five years, and this is my twelfth year teaching Kindergarten—a grade I absolutely love!  I recently earned my Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University, adding to my background in both music and elementary education.  I completed my undergraduate studies at Appalachian State University  in Boone, North Carolina, and later earned a Master’s degree in education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

After graduate school, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where I taught in Glendale for eight years.  During that time, I met my husband, Kevin, and we were married before welcoming our daughters Devin and Brett.  In 2008, our family relocated to Indiana to be closer to Kevin’s family in Morgantown and mine in Cincinnati.  That fall, we were blessed with our third daughter, Brooke.  I took time away from full-time teaching to focus on my family, then gradually returned to the classroom by teaching Pre-K at Mount Pleasant Christian Church.  In November 2013, I reentered public education as a Developmental Preschool teacher, and soon after, transitioned to my current Kindergarten role.  In addition to teaching, I serve as the Kindergarten Grade Level Chair for our district and co-lead Student Council with Mrs. Nikou.

My husband, Kevin, and I have been married for 24 years.  We have three wonderful daughters: Devin, she is in her first year of graduate school at the University of Virginia ; Brett, a junior at Purdue University; and Brooke, a junior at Center Grove High School.  Our home is full of love—and fur—thanks to our two golden retrievers, Sadie and Charlie, and our Australian Shepherd, Ariel.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, hiking, playing cards, going out to eat, and tackling DIY projects.  I’ve continued my passion for music by teaching private string lessons from home and tutoring students in grades K–5.  Our family loves spending time outdoors and making memories with friends and loved ones.

I am deeply committed to creating a loving, engaging, and enriching environment for every child in Room 10, and I can’t wait to partner with you during this exciting year of learning!
