5th Grade Choral Festival

5th GRADE ANNUAL CHORAL FESTIVAL
CENTER GROVE MIDDLE SCHOOL NORTH
THURSDAY, October 2, 7:00 P.M. 2025
As our 5th graders approach their Middle School music choices, we try to prepare them for what is available next year. The choral departments of our two Middle Schools host this extra-curricular festival each year to about 200 5th graders from across the Center Grove district. Students rehearse and perform together under the direction of Mr. Andersen and Mrs. Colter, the Middle School Central choir directors, and Mr. Pearson and Mrs. Sigafoes, the Middle School North choir directors. It is an exciting way for students and parents to experience the Middle School choir department! If your student chooses to participate, he/she will learn most of the festival music in class, on their own with music and recordings available online, and attend morning rehearsals. Participation is not required and does not affect his/her grade.
Our rehearsals will be on the following Fridays, at 8:20 AM in the PGE music room: September 5, 12, 19, 26. Following dismissal on Thursday, October 2, we will all meet in the music room, enjoy a snack, practice our songs, change into the festival t-shirt, and then walk to Middle School North for practice, pizza supper, and 7:00 PM concert (~30 minutes) in the main gym. Families may enter at the Music/Athletic entrance.
The cost is $15 (cash or check payable to PGES) which supports our classroom as well as the t-shirt, food, and music each student will receive. Family and friends are all invited to the free concert. Comfortable jeans/pants and sneakers are suggested. Expectations: attend morning practices, memorize all music, behave respectfully, and have fun! I hope to see as many students participate as possible. It will be a memorable and fun night! You may sign up ONLINE and then bring $15 to Mr. Newsham no later than the first practice date.
