2025 Pride Choir & Panther Percussion Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Your child may express an interest in participating in one of our before-school music clubs. This letter should answer many of your questions about these extra-curricular activities. In Pride Choir, we will be singing a variety of multicultural music using unison and 2-part harmony. In Panther Percussion, we will be using a wide assortment of percussion instruments such as chimes, xylophones, drums, and boomwhackers. It is the goal of these groups to help develop communication, cooperative teamwork, technique, musicianship, and appreciation for the world of music. In addition, it’s a lot of fun to make music with others!
PRIDE CHOIR rehearsals are every Friday for 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade, beginning on October 3 from 8:20 – 9:05 A.M. in the music room (no limit, no auditions).
PANTHER PERCUSSION rehearsals are every Friday, beginning January 23, from 8:20 – 9:05 A.M. in the music room. Panther Percussion is open to any 4th and 5th Grader.
Students are expected to attend all rehearsals (see schedule below). If a student misses a rehearsal due to illness or a scheduled appointment, please leave me a voicemail or email. Students who cannot fulfill their obligation to attend weekly rehearsals may not perform in the program planned. To make all educational experiences positive and enjoyable, students must be willing to do their best work while at rehearsals and show appropriate performance etiquette.
Pride Choir will perform in the Winter Concert (PGES gym): Monday, December 8, at 7:00 P.M. Students should arrive by 6:30 PM.
Panther Percussion will perform in the Spring Concert along with 2nd Grade (PGES gym): Tuesday, March 17, at 7:00 P.M. Students should arrive by 6:45 PM.
Please sign up HERE for Pride Choir and send in a $15 t-shirt/snack/music fee to Mr. Newsham (cash or check payable to PGES) before the first rehearsal.
